"Potentials" tab

In this register you have the option of entering any number of potential improvements for the process and assigning measures.

Delete

A potential can be assigned to the process globally (ie in every use of the process) or locally (only in this use of the process).

After the potentials have been assigned, a corresponding pictogram appears in the upper area of the process symbol .

You can see the potentials under ››› View – Window in the Potentials window manage and in the properties with Situation and Effect detail.

Assigning potentials

  1. Click the add icon [ ] in the title bar of the Potentials tab.
    The Add potentials to … window opens.
  2. In the window you can choose between an alphabetical list view and a folder view (default).
    In the Folder view, the potentials (eg) are sorted according to potential types (eg risk, acute).
    Mark the potentials that are to be assigned to the process.If you would like to assign a potential that does not yet exist in the process model, click on New Potential and enter a name.
    Confirm your entry with OK. The window will close.
  3. Detail potentials:
    In the Properties window, an arrow icon [  ] indicates that there are associated potentials.Click on the arrow or double click on the title bar of the Potentials tab to display the contents.The assigned potentials are listed with the potential type. To view details of the potentials, click on the arrow [  ] before or double on the name of the potential.
  4. If a Risk Priority Number (RPN) is to be determined, you can enter the values for Severity, Chance of occurrence, and Chance of detection:
    Delete

    RPN = S x O x D

    Severity of significance of the error, is evaluated from the customer's point of view: high = "10" to low = "1"
    Chance of occurrence of the cause: high = "10" to low = "1"
    Chance of detection the cause or error in the process before handing it over to the customer: low = "10" to high = "1"

    The Risk Priority Number (RPN) is automatically calculated from the entered values.

    Delete

    The entries in the Situation, Effect and Remark can only be viewed here, but not edited. The stored texts are displayed in full if you first click in a field and then on the expansion button  click.

    Add and detail measures:
    Open the details of a potential in the Potentials tab (Step 3).
    Click the add icon [ ] in the title bar of the Measures tab.
    The Add Measures to … window opens.
  5. In the window you can choose between an alphabetical list view and a folder view (default).
    In the Folder view, the measures are sorted by measure type.
    Mark the measures that are to be assigned to the process.
    If you want to assign a measure that does not yet exist in the process model, click on New measure and enter a name.
  6. Confirm your entry with OK. The window will close.
    Delete

    You can view the measures under ››› View – Window in the Measures window manage and in the properties with a Description detail.

  7. In the Properties window, an arrow icon [  ] indicates that there are associated actions.
    Click on the arrow or double click on the title bar of the Measures tab to display the contents.
    The assigned measures are listed with the measure type. To view details of the actions, click the arrow [  ] before or double on the name of the action. If action status and responsibility are to be defined, fill in the Status, Responsible, Due Date and Completed fields.
Delete

The entries in the Description fields and name can only be viewed here, but not edited. The stored texts are displayed in full if you first click in a field and then on the expansion button  click.

Deleting assignments

  1. To remove assignments in the list, open the Potentials or Measures tab in the properties window by clicking on the arrow [  ] or double click on the title bar of the potential.
  2. Right-click the potential or measure and select Delete from the context menu.
  3. Confirm the message that the assignment will be deleted with Yes.
Delete

With this action, only the assignments of the potential or the measure to the process are deleted – not the potential or the measure itself.
