Error in Visio update 2506 prevents viflow from starting

With version 2506, Microsoft has released an update for Visio, which is currently only available through the Current Channel (Preview).

If this version 2506 is installed, the start screen appears when viflow starts, but then disappears again and viflow does not open.

This issue only affects users who have subscribed to the preview of the current update channel for Microsoft Office 365 (possibly also Visio 2021).

Solution

To work around the problem, we recommend either manually reverting to Office version 2505 or switching the update channel to the regular "Current Channel".

The error has been documented and reported to the manufacturer. We are in close contact with them and are working intensively on a permanent solution to the problem.

Which version is installed?

  1. Open an Office 365 program, such as Word or Visio.
  2. Under File – Info, click Account in the bottom left corner.
  3. In the Product Information, next to Info about Visio, you will find the version number (here: "2505") and below it the update channel (here: "Current Channel" – not "Preview"!) {{1}}.
