Export as WebModel takes an unusually long time

With the introduction of viflow 8, the WebModel has become significantly more functional and therefore significantly more files are generated when the process model is exported as a WebModel than in previous viflow versions. The WebModel is no longer a static HTML website, but an active application that requires a web server.
Because of this new technology, it is normal for the export as a WebModel to take significantly longer than you are used to from earlier viflow versions.
Nevertheless, there are some factors that can slow down or speed up the export:
- When exporting, the files are first exported to a temporary directory on your computer and copied from there to the target directory.
If a drive on another server was selected as the target directory, the duration of the export depends on the performance of your network or Internet connection.
If you are unsure about this, carry out a test export to a local directory on your hard disk and compare the export time. - In the WebModel from viflow 8 it is possible to export reports – for example the "process description". With each export, the reports are generated anew and the resulting large amount of data slows down both the generation and the moving of the entire WebModel to the target directory, which is running in the background.
- Large image files that are used as background graphics, for example, slow down the export and reduce the performance of the WebModel.
Our development department is continuously working on optimizing the program, which should always improve the performance of viflow, the WebModel and the export.
