Merging viflow objects

Applies to: viflow (subscription) | Article: 3583969 | Updated on 12.11.2025

{{gold}}Viflow Gold is required to use this feature.{{end}}

This function allows you to merge objects of the same type – for example, users, information, or key performance indicators – with just a few clicks. The properties of one object are transferred to another, which is then moved to the trash. This allows you to rid your process model of duplicate objects without having to transfer or lose properties individually.

Enable developer mode

This function is only available if Developer Mode has been enabled under File – Options – General – Advanced.

When merging objects, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the window for the object type in which you want to merge objects.
In this example, the User window.
  2. Mark the object (“reference object”) to be retained {{1}}.
  3. Click on the Developer tab of the viflow menu Merge.
  4. In the window Select Object to merge into "Reference Object", select the object whose properties should be transferred to the "Reference Object" {{2}}.
  5. Confirm with OK.
The properties are transferred to the "reference object" and the other object is deleted or moved to the trash.
In this example, the properties of user "Amanda Haenel" {{3}} were transferred to those of "Amanda Hänel" {{4}}.
To the right of this you can see the merged properties {{5}}.

Notice

With this function, the properties are "only" merged or supplemented, not overwritten.
If a property is stored in the "reference object", it will be retained – even if it differs from that of the other object.

Caution with process graphics! – not available for folders

This function can also be applied to processes that contain a graphic – in this case, one graphic is deleted and only the one of the "reference object" is retained.

Entire folders of objects cannot be merged.
