How to use the suffix for information/connectors in existing process models
Applies to: viflow (subscription) | Article: 3691251 | Updated on 13.02.2026
With viflow subscription from version 36.5.4942 onwards, you can use not only a prefix (for example, after a branch: "Yes: Order") but also a suffix – i.e., appended text – for the information and connectors in the process graphics and display them in the graphic.
Is it sufficient if I update to the latest viflow version?
Yes and no.
When you create a new process model, you can use the new connector without restrictions.
For existing process models (created before version 36.5.4942), the connector shape in the viflow template must be manually replaced. If the shape in the templates of existing process models were automatically replaced with an update, the individually customized shapes used by many users could no longer be used.
Here's how to import the new connector into existing process models
- In viflow, open a process model that (was created with a viflow version prior to 36.5.4942 and) is to receive the new connector.
- In the viflow menu, click on View – Window – Template and open the template.
- Open another viflow instance via the Windows Start menu and create a new, empty process model in it (the process model does not have to be empty, but this is faster).
- If it is not already open, also open the viflow template in this new process model.
- Right-click on the connector shape and select Open from the context menu.
The connector graphic opens in a tab. - Right-click on the connector and select Copy.
- Now switch to the viflow instance where your existing process model is open.
Right-click on the connector shape and select Open. - In the Information (Connector) tab, select the shape and click the Remove button.
- Now paste the copied shape into the open, empty information tab.
To do this, either right-click on the empty drawing page (in the tab) and select paste, or alternatively press the keyboard shortcut [CTRL + V] .
The connector shape is inserted. - Close the tab with the connector open.
- Now save the process model by clicking the Save button or using the keyboard shortcut [CTRL + S].
- If process graphs are still open in other tabs, a message will appear indicating that a master shape has been changed.
Clicking on Reload will refresh the graphic. - Repeat this process if you want to use the new connector with suffix in other process models.
How to use the suffix
- Right-click on the information object (connector) in the graphic and select Properties.
- Open the object's local properties by clicking the Local Properties tab {{1}} at the bottom of the Properties window.
- Enter the prefix, suffix and desired separators {{2}} if necessary; these will be displayed in the process graph{{3}}.
