Normal Mode

Applies to: viflow (subscription | 9 | 8) | Article: 1593157 | Updated on 30.04.2024

{{silver}}Team Modeling is available in the viflow editions silver and gold (not in viflow blue).{{end}}

The normal mode in team modeling is an "open mode" that can start directly with saving the process model as a database (on SQL Server). This mode requires no further settings or options and is therefore set automatically.

After approval (by your administrator) for other users, they can work in the database at the same time.

Delete

Due to the lack of restrictions when editing and saving the process model, it can happen in this mode that the work of a user is overwritten by the user who saved last.

Delete

We only recommend this "open mode" if you only work with a few users in viflow and they agree on the use of the database before modeling.

Available options for Normal Mode

Delete

See ››› Team modeling options for detailed information on the options mentioned here.

The following options are available for working in this mode:

Manually handle of version conflicts

With this option you activate the conflict manager under File – Options – Current Process Model – Team Modeling.

This is opened when several users - possibly accidentally - have changed the properties of one (!) object.

Delete

We recommend ONLY using this option if you are working in the process model with a large number of modelers at the same time and there is no prior agreement on the individual work areas.
If it is determined before modeling who is working on which processes and objects, this option is not necessary – it only serves as a safeguard in the event that several modelers have been working on a graphic or on a property of an object at the same time. Please note that resolving conflicts in graphics on which several modelers have worked and made many changes can be very time-consuming.

Lock / unlock Process Model

Delete

This option is recommended if you only occasionally want to lock the process model against editing by other users. If you always want to lock the model while you work, you should select the ››› single user mode.

Directly in the File menu you have the option of locking the currently open process model for editing by other users (!).

The lock remains in effect until you press the Unlock button(s) again.

Delete

If other users are still connected to the database when you click Lock, they will be prompted to close the process model. Only then is the lock function executed.

Delete

Important! As soon as you close the process model, the lock is released and other users can open the database.

Work offline / online

If you do not have access to the server (e.g. if you are working elsewhere with the notebook), you can check out the process model in the File menu (work offline) and check it in (work online) as soon as you have access to the server again.
